About Girls Geared For Greatness
Mission
Girls Geared For Greatness is designed to empower and inspire girls ages 7-18 through meaningful and unique training and development opportunities, workshops, and seminars.
Vision
Giving girls the tools they need to achieve and believe that anything is possible.
History
Founded in 2018 by Chasta Hamilton, the Owner/Artistic Director of Stage Door Dance Productions in Raleigh, NC, Girls Geared For Greatness was created as an action-oriented response to shifting societal trends.
After stepping away from the competitive dance industry, Stage Door Dance Productions recognized the need to infuse their programming with more training opportunities that were inclusive of character development and leadership skills.
The program creates conversation around relevant topics that empower girls to succeed in their personal and professional lives.
The messaging transcends the dance industry, and it is the intent of the organization to make sure all girls, parents, teachers, and stakeholders are able to benefit from the conversations and programming.
Impact
In its first season (2018-2019), Girls Geared For Greatness reached over 200 girls with sessions in leadership, branding, perseverance, and entrepreneurship.
In our second season (2019-2020), Girls Geared For Greatness continued to thrive, reaching 60 participants.
With plans halted by the pandemic in 2020, we offered a digital session in Summer 2020. After recognizing how "zoomed out" participants were, we decide to pause the programming.
We were able to "Re-Launch" in Fall of 2021 with a free Phase 1 Modular Program, Going For Great! 26 organizations are piloting this program, and we look forward to continuing to elevate our impact.
Since then, we’ve been recalibrating and determining the strongest way to make an impact. In 2024, we reorganized our Board of Directors and established our Teen Advisory and Junior Advisory Council. We look forward to elevated impact in the future!
