State of the Girl: Encouraging Ambition & Bravery in Our Communities

Led by Chasta Hamilton, this one-night only event is presented by Girls Geared For Greatness and sponsored by Stage Door Dance Productions.

State of the Girl: Encouraging Ambition and Bravery in Our Communities will address the challenges and opportunities facing female identifying youth ages 7-18.

We invite parents, educators, and stakeholders to join this free gathering us as we discuss:

I. The Facts: What Is the State of the Girl?

II. The Action: What Can We Do to Combat Bias?

III. The Relation: How-To Activate Change in Our Communities

This session will also serve as the catalyst for the new Girls Geared For Greatness season.

While the in-person event is limited to 100 seats, we will be opening a virtual overflow once the seats are filled.

What is leadership? How can young girls be leaders in their community? Join a panel of five female leaders from different industries to hear about their experiences and how they overcame obstacles. Attendees should be able to identify different definitions of leadership, understand ways to become leaders, and recognize how gender can have an impact on the way women work with leadership.

Using the book Reviving Ophelia as a guidepost, the conversation will be open, candid, inspiring, and strategic about how we can best empower and inspire this community.

Your Great Idea Starts Here!

Girls Geared For Greatness and NC State Entrepreneurship are excited to co-host Your Great Idea Starts Here!

Designed for female identifying high school students, the workshop will feature: (1) a tour of the renowned Entrepreneurship Garage at NC State University and (2) a simulation exercise which involves splitting into groups and ideating out entrepreneurial solutions and then presenting/ "investing" in them.

Attendees will gather and check-in at 5:15 at the Main Entrance of the Garage. Parking is free on campus after 5pm and locations be found via the map below.

This event is FREE; however, space is limited and advance registration is required via this link.

At this time, face masks are optional, but welcome, depending on personal preference.
